Dear Friends,
Heather Ewing, the inaugural Executive Director of the Center for Italian Modern Art, is stepping down on August 17, after five years with CIMA. Heather began at CIMA in August 2013, before it opened to the public, and collaborated with me in launching the Center and making it the special place that it is today — a unique example of the pleasures of “slow art,” an unsurpassed opportunity for scholarly research and the lively exchange of ideas and impressions, and a showcase for underrepresented masters of 20th-century Italian art. We thank Heather for her time and dedication to CIMA.
CIMA’s new Executive Director will be Emma Lewis, a trustee of the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation and former lawyer at Arnold & Porter LLP. Her passion for and education in Italy and Italian art was instilled from a young age, as she had the good fortune to live and study on and off during her childhood and young adulthood in Florence. Emma will be overseeing a new team as we continue to advance the goals of this singular institution.
Sincerely,
Laura Mattioli
President, Center for Italian Modern Art
